Usui Reiki is a Japanese Energy Healing Technique. The predominant form of Reiki practiced throughout the world today, also known as Usui Reiki, was created by Dr. Mikao Usui in the early 20th century. It’s a complementary or alternative health approach. We create our own “biofield” known as an electromagnetic field that permeates and surrounds every living being. In humans, this field extends 15 feet or more from the body. Our brain and heart produce electrical positive and negative charges creating our magnetic field. The biofield is the force that guides bodily functions, and Reiki energy influences the biofield. Dynamic changes in vibrational qualities alter physiological and psychological functions in living beings through the biofield.
Reiki does not directly cure diseases or illnesses. But, one’s mindset and willingness to heal play a significant role in self-healing. It involves a Reiki master using gentle hand movements to guide the flow of healthy energy through hands (what’s known in Reiki as “life force energy”) through the body to promote healing. Put together, “rei” and “ki” mean “spiritually guided life force energy.”
Our way of thinking creates emotions that can lead to physical ailments in the body. We have seven centers of energy known as “chakras” in Sanskrit. This translates to “wheels of energy.” When those wheels of energy are blocked, we cannot allow proper smooth energy to flow through our bodies and this can lead to energy imbalance.
Through the palm of the hands, Reiki opens these chakras as needed to balance, heal, or strengthen the chakras. Despite its spiritual, components. Reiki is not religious nor follows any religious practice.
